Our NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home course is a comprehensive, California-approved Concealed Carry (CCW) training program designed to prepare responsible citizens to safely and effectively carry a firearm in public. This course goes beyond basic marksmanship, focusing on real-world application, decision-making, and the legal responsibilities of armed self-defense.

California CCW Training Requirements
We offer both the 16-hour initial certification and the 8-hour renewal course, meeting California state requirements for CCW permit issuance and renewal.
16-Hour Initial CCW Course
Designed for new CCW applicants, this in-depth training includes classroom instruction and live-fire qualification. Students will leave with a strong foundation in both the legal and practical aspects of concealed carry.
8-Hour CCW Renewal Course
For current permit holders, this course reinforces critical skills, updates students on current laws, and includes required requalification to maintain your CCW license.

Our Approach
We emphasize a balanced approach to personal protection—combining safety, legality, and practical skill development. Our goal is not just to help you meet state requirements, but to ensure you carry with confidence, competence, and accountability.
This course has been approved to meet the requirements for the training requirements for the CCW Licensing application (Approved for Orange and Riverside Counties and select cities in Los Angels County. Check with your jurisdiction). If you wish to shoot the qualification and receive your training certificate, you can do so following the shooting portion of the class. The cost will be $50.00 for the first 3 firearms and $10 each additional firearm.
Archer Firearms Training Class Waiver
For participants to be successful in this course, they should have the following items, either personally owned or provided.
Quality Pistol appropriate for concealed carry – recommend minimum of 9mm or .38 Special
Quality Strong Side Hip Holster – recommend form fitted leather or kydex, must cover trigger/trigger guard
Quality Belt, designed to carry a holster and a firearm strongly recommended
Quality ammunition suitable for practice. Encourage students to have at least two hundred rounds.
Spare magazines or speed loaders with appropriate pouches – at least two spares.
Clothing appropriate for concealed carry
Eye protection
Hearing protection - recommend electronic
ONLY HITS COUNT!!
The goal of each shooting exercise is to have all hits in the center of mass of the FBI Q or NRA D-1 Bianchi Target. You will not earn a course completion certificate until you are able to keep all shots within the center of mass on the target. We don’t grade on a curve.
Classroom Instruction and Testing
Shoot CA CCW qualification course of fire. (10 rounds at 3, 5, & 7 yards each for each firearm listed on your license. Range exercise. We will perform shooting drills from concealment to increase your skills and confidence if ever needed to use your firearms in defense of self or others.
